Samori Augusto

Mr. Augusto is the Co-founder of Augusto Web Services, a firm providing Web design and applications, and Web site marketing services for small businesses and individuals. Prior to that, Mr. Augusto served as the Director for Strategic Planning and Director of Business Development at Netnoir, Inc., in San Francisco. At Netnoir, he directed the business-to-business, business-to-consumer, and e-commerce strategies, managed technology teams and planned and launched new Web site products, developed and marketed a Small Business Program that attracted several Fortune 500 partners, and decreased exposure to revenue-reducing partnerships and contracts, reducing costs significantly.

Prior to Netnoir, Mr. Augusto worked for several technology startups in business development, marketing and technology management, and spent four years in management consulting firms working on full life-cycle client/server projects. He has lived in various countries in Africa and Europe and has a an MBA from the Haas School of Business at University of California Berkeley, and a BSE in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Petula Yolanda Brown

Petula Brown's project management experience is focused on information technology projects in service industries. Past projects include completion of a membership management system for a Michigan association, feasibility research for a Phoenix-based marketing firm and Web content development for Michigan- and New York-based software firms.

Employment experiences include serving as an information technology consultant at Ernst & Young and a project manager at the University of Michigan Health System. Relevant publications/ presentations include "Survey Research via the Internet" and "From Data to Decisions: Improved Quality Management Through Systematic Quantitative Analysis." Ms. Brown has attained project management certifications (PMP, Project IT+) and has completed training as a Total Quality Management/Continuous Quality Improvement Team Leader. Ms. Brown has a B.S. from Cornell University and master's from the University of Michigan.

 

Franklin Madison

Franklin Madison, Jr., recently named one of Crain's Tech 100, a listing of the Top 100 individuals in technology in New York City as chosen by Crain's NY Business (May 2001), joined ITAC in 1999. As Technology Program Director, Franklin is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of new programs to assist high-tech firms in NYC including the FastTrac Programs, Technology Transfer Programs, and NASA Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program.

Franklin also works one-on-one with CEOs of high tech companies, providing technical assistance in the areas of business plan development, access to capital from private and public sources, R&D assistance, and technology partnerships. Franklin is an active member of associations such as the New York Regional Consortium, Institute for Business Trends Analysis and NYC Telecommunications and Technology Advisory Committee of the NYC Private Industry Council, the New York New Media Association, Minority Internet and Technology Professionals, New York Academy of Science's Regional Technology Leadership Network, the New York Software Industry Association, RedIbis, and is CKO (Chief Knowledge Officer) of Hispanics in Technology and Telecommunications.

 

Meta J. Mereday

Meta J. Mereday, a diversity expert and media specialist, has over sixteen years of business development, fundraising and marketing strategy expertise. She has been quoted in the New York Times, Newsday, Black Enterprise et al. Meta has created award winning publications and collateral materials for a variety of organizations with an emphasis on minority business development and advocacy. She is a consultant and freelance writer for Emerging Markets magazine where she has expanded its coverage on corporate diversity and community reinvestment.

Ms. Mereday earned her Masters of Business Administration in International Business - from Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York. Her Master's thesis is a training module designed to assist minority owned firms and small organizations with marketing strategies to improve their operations and promotions. She received her B.A. in Advertising and Speech Communications from San Jose State University, San Jose, CA.

 

James I. Neusom, II

James I. Neusom, II is a Internationally known online entrepreneur and freelance journalist with over 10 years experience in Internet technology and over 25 years experience in the electronics and communications industry. Mr. Neusom has acquired a national reputation as an e-commerce software developer, webmaster, and Internet promoter. He is experienced in negotiating and securing contracts with Fortune 500 companies such as Hughes, Xerox, IBM, and major cable companies.

Mr. Neusom's background includes first hand knowledge of both public and private industry. The ability to work with government and community leaders. He is on the pulse of labor, tax, and consumer laws. As the head of the Nevada chapter of the Black Data Processors Association (BDPA), Mr. Neusom regularly engages in IT related initiatives with African-America technology professionals around the nation.

 

Vaughnea Smith

Vaughnea Smith is a Senior Technical Writer with American Re Insurance, Princeton New Jersey. Ms. Smith creates Help Files, User Manuals and technical communiqués. Her varied experience ranges from technical writing to implementation specialist for New York State, Department of Children Services (former Department of Social Services). Twenty years of technological expertise stem from employment with New York State.

Ms. Smith possesses a Business Administration degree from Marymount Manhattan College and a Master of Arts degree in Administration and Urban Policy from Brooklyn College. Vaughnea had various types of computer training and occasionally speaks to community groups about embracing technology and using technology to increase profitability in minority communities.

 

 

Lena West

Lena L. West is an ambitious entrepreneur, a proud technocrat and a devoted volunteer. She is also the Founder and CEO of xynoMedia Development. New York-based, xynoMedia Development helps businesses avoid making costly technology and business development mistakes by assisting them with the development and implementation of a variety of technology and business strategies, from Internet and general technology consulting to business growth strategies. As a certified technical expert, Lena learned about the intricate aspects of computers and networking while consulting for Fortune 500 companies such as IBM, Pitney Bowes, Philips Magnavox, Hyperion Software and MasterCard International.

Since writing has been a passion, Lena has made her way to being a Contributing Editor for SmallBizTechnology.com, a Contributing Technology Editor-at-Large for Blacklines Magazine, a monthly columnist for the newsletter X-CUBE, and an Associate Content Editor for the BDPA Journal. Currently, Lena is conducting research for a book she's writing about women in technology and is enrolled in Mercy College. She is also a panelist on the four-city tour of Tavis Smiley Presents': Blacks in Technology conference and expo.

Bernadette Williams is President/CEO of i-strategy.com, an Internet consulting and multimedia development agency. Williams’ experience includes Web project management, Internet strategic planning, specialized database research, software training, and Internet workshop development.

Williams is an international public speaker, having presented at conferences for Sanwa Bank, UCLA, UC Alumni Association, Howard University, Los Angeles Times, African American Women on Tour, National Association of Women Business Owners (Los Angeles Chapter), NAACP, Learning Annex, Microsoft (Big Day Tour), Black Expo and the Tavis Smiley Foundation’s Blacks In Technology.
